Remembrance Day 2015 - Old Fort York and École élémentaire des quatre rivières in Orangeville
Each Remembrance Day a group from the Incorporated Militia supports the Remembrance Day Ceremonies at Old Fort York. Again we joined with the Fort Staff to honour those that have defended Canada. Each year there are fewer and fewer of the World War II veterans. It is because of this, that it is important for us to show our support. This year Fort staff represented a soldier (8th Regiment) from 1815, a member of the Queens York Ranges from the 1885 period a WWI infantryman from 1915 and an Canadian Army soldier from 1945.
Members of the Toronto Police, Fire Service and EMS laid wreaths along with members of the current Canadian Armed Forces.
The IODE provided a Colour Party at the commemoration on the Fort York Commons..
While the official ceremonies were going on in Toronto, one of our sergeants led the Remembrance Day Ceremony at her school, École élémentaire des quatre rivières.
